Silverback’s Data Destruction Process
Scan media for reporting and certification purposes
Physically crush hard drives and SSD’s
Tape Media is sent off-site for shredding/incineration after being degaussed
Provide detailed report of all items destroyed with certification of destruction, including serial numbers
Recycle data-free media as appropriate
Chain of Custody Options
On-site Data Destruction provides a clean chain of custody as the data never leaves your care, custody and control.
Off-site Data Destruction is less expensive, and provides the same level of certified destruction, however the work is carried out at a Silverback facility, not on a customer premises.
Hard Drive Crushing vs. Media Degaussing
Fully trained technicians equipped with portable degaussing and hard drive destruction equipment are available to provide services at our client’s facility or office:
Degaussing – Destruction through significant magnetic charges immediately erasing data on the hard drive. Used for magnetic devices only.
Physical Destruction – Crushing hard drives by applying enough force to bend or break the platters with a minimum of a 20% bed of the platters
Physical Hard Drive Destruction
Silverback provides onsite media destruction service. Our mobile media crushing devices are designed to physically destroy hard drives and solid state media (SSD, Memory Cards, etc). Hard Drive destruction can take place on the customer’s premises or at a Silverback operated facility. Upon completion of the destruction process, all material is recycled responsibly.
All data erasure and destruction services are backed by a Certificate of Data Erasure & Destruction providing client liability protection and certification of full data destruction.
Silverback eliminates the risk of data leaving your premises by bringing data destruction technology to you. Silverback provides onsite degaussing services to demagnetize a wide variety of electronic storage media. To ensure the security of our clients’ data, our mobile degaussing units apply a magnetic force of 9000 Oersteds, almost twice the level of the coercivity of today’s disk drives. Our mobile degaussers can process up to 60 drives/tapes per hour.
