Citi Data Center gets EPA Energy Star
Citi, the huge financial services company, has just earned an 84 on the Energy Star scale for data centers at its facility located in Ohio.
One of the more interesting things about this is that it’s the largest facility so far to earn an Energy Star label, although admittedly the data center edition is pretty recent. Citi also has many other types of facilities which had already been awarded the Energy Star certification.
The people in charge at Citi are really dedicated to doing their part to save energy – from devoting $50 billion over ten years to work on climate change, to their work with the EPA and the US Green Building Council.
They’ve reduced the energy used in their largest facilities by 20% with techniques like using outside air to cool equipment, managing which areas are getting fanned more and less, and being extremely watchful and regular about their energy management.
Congratulations Citi! Way to set an excellent example for other facilities. Check out the press release at WebWire for more.
